    Each year West Mount Airy Neighbors (WMAN) hosts its annual "Eat Your Heart Out" fundraiser in homes around the Northwest Philadelphia neighborhood. Local chefs prepare themed meals for a little over 150 guests. See the galleries in this collection for photos of the cocktail party and some of the homes and kitchens were the event takes place.

    Six die and fourteen are injured as result of a building collapse in center city Philadelphia. Clothing and other merchandize is seen hanging on racks in the window of the Salvation Army Thrift Store on the corner of 22nd & Market St in Philadelphia. Siting of on a wall George Bradley uses his binoculars to see the progress at the site were earlier that morning a 4 story building collapsed. Bradley was shopping at a nearby supermarket when he heard what he thought sounded like a bomb. He noticed that the past week demolition on the site progressed in an for him peculiar way. He explains that work seemed to be done from the ground floor instead of from the top. Bradley, a longtime neighborhood resident, remembers that there was an adult entertainment with peep shows and a strip club in the building.     When it came to explaining the importance of events like the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, which was held Saturday on the Cliveden Grounds, Jack Asher drew a comparison between the printed word and actually seeing the actions described. "It is one thing to open a history book and read about it," said Asher, an event sponsor, "but it is different to see the action. The guns going off. The smoke. The whole nine yards." To that end, hundreds of historic reenactors came to the grounds of Cliveden for the annual Battle of Germantown reenactment. . . .
